One of the things that really impresses me is that once you get onto the trail, you notice that the trees are a little bit taller than the ones in Michigan. In fact, they're a LOT taller, like at least twice the height and probably a little more on top of that. Things out here grow really well. You can't see it well in this photo but they trees are also covered with moss that grows on them.

This is a just a little lookout just off the trail on the way up to high rock. We're overlooking the foothills of Mt. Rainier in the background.

This is me (of course) perched on top of high rock. Behind is Mt. Rainer and the little girl was up hiking the hill with her dad and sister. We became good friends that afternoon waiting for the sun to go down and, hopefully, catch a northern lights show. The northern lights never came out and we ended up hiking down the mountain in the dark.

Despite not seeing the northern lights, we did get to see a magnificent sunset though. :-)
