| How we met: | Online
- July 2000 - We were both in Seattle then and met in response to
mutual searches for activity partners. We played volleyball with the
mountaineers (social) and then moved up to play in a more competitive
league. |

| First Date: | November,
2000 - Boy gets girl, girl gets boy. Interesting choices for birthday
presents huh? |
|
| First Fight: | March,
2001 - We were driving across the Cascade mountains into the Pasayten
Wilderness area to meet up with a group of friends for a x-country
ski weekend. We got lost and Matt doesn't like being lost. After several
navigation set-backs, we were very late, traveling down one lane dirt
roads, in the dark, and without a good map. The stage is now set,
the rest as they say, is history. Footnote: It later turned into a very romantic moonlit ski as we trundled along miserably attempting to x-country skate ski uphill with weekend backpacks. We did eventually arrive and spent a very cozy night in a 10' square hut with 10 other roomies. |

| Meet the Parents: |
Jen: We met my Dad at the beach where Matt played with his dog and thus immediately earned Dad's appreciation. His first reaction was: "Wow, do he have a lot of energy". Meeting Mom was much more interesting. On the predetermined morning, residual affects of the prior nights party left Matt in a less than stellar condition. Lunch found him seated next to the open door attempting to cool and revive himself. After lunch, a walk in the park presented Mom with the chance to interview Matt one on one. |
Matt: My
first excuse to haul Jen back to Michigan was for my High School class
reunion. It seemed like the perfect time to all do the "Meet
The Family" trip so we made a long weekend out it.
I'll preface this by saying that Jen is a girl. She was feeling nervous about the big meeting. Once we got there and she found no family tribunal convened to burn her if she wasn't deemed worthy, all was well. |
