MATT SIMERSON - ISP/C SPECIAL PROJECTS DIRECTOR
Matt Simerson is President of MichWeb, Inc., a small Cadillac, Michigan based ISP. Matt started out in the Desktop Publishing industry with a Mac Plus and then moved into the engineering world with Kysor/Cadillac. There he assisted in the design and manufacture of cooling fans for Class 8 trucks using Intel PC's and SGI workstations. During his time there he started MichWeb, Inc. and within a few months it needed more attention than he could provide. He then resigned and worked for Kysor as a consultant until MichWeb demanded his full attention.
MichWeb is Cadillac Michigan's largest ISP and provides a full range of Internet services including everything from simple dialup accounts to putting entire networks online using routers, firewalls, and proxy servers. Matt is also the system administrator and handles the programming of everything starting from the palmtops on up to the Cisco routers and UNIX workstations. Matt is well versed in many of the more popular UNIX operating systems including (but not limited to) BSDI, FreeBSD, HPUX, IRIX, SunOS, Linux, and A/UX.
Matt is very active on the Internet and frequents quite a few mailing lists including those of the ISP/C, the infamous inet-access, and a couple dozen others related to the internet business. He participates in as many trade shows as he can find time for and assists with projects that suit his fancy.
Matt is also very proficient with the software from that company based in Redmond, Washington. While you aren't likely to catch him buying anything that resembles Microsoft software he does actually knows volumes about it. It could have to do with the thousands of lines of code written in Visual Basic or maybe just from setting up so many windoze machines but he really knows a lot. He has even has one NT workstation but if you ask him which OS he likes, don't expect a Microsoft answer.
Born in 1973, Matt is 23 years old and an avid outdoors man. He speaks German and is currently learning French. He loves pushing the boundaries of life. People who don't know what sports cars can do are apt to have white knuckles and are sometimes trembling when they ride with him. People that try to keep up with him on a mountain bike or hiking trail have an equally rough time. The Internet is one of the few things (non-female) in his life that truly inspire him.
